Another Saturday of violent clashes in Hong Kong. A proposed rally and march for the afternoon had been cancelled after police refused permission for it to go ahead. Protesters gathered anyway and it wasn’t long before crowds collected around government headquarters. A violent stand-off developed with petrol bombs being thrown over the police barriers, and water cannons being deployed with pepper-spray infused water. The chaos comes as Hong Kong approaches its 13th week of unrest triggered by the now-suspended extradition bill.
