1.CBS, Viacom to merge in US$12 billion deal

One-time siblings CBS and Viacom were reuniting after years of on-and-off talks. The all-stock merger brings together America’s most watched network with the parent of Paramount movie studio and cable channels like MTV and Nickelodeon. Under the deal, CBS would own about 61 per cent of the combined company and Viacom, 39 per cent.
